Reykjanes Peninsula & Volcanic Landscapes Tour
Discover the volcanic landscapes, geothermal wonders and dramatic Atlantic coastline of the Reykjanes Peninsula on a 6.5-hour tour from Reykjavík.
DESCRIPTION
Leave Reykjavík behind and discover the raw natural beauty of the Reykjanes Peninsula—one of Iceland’s most active and fascinating volcanic regions.
The journey begins with an opportunity to view newly formed lava near the Blue Lagoon from a safe and permitted location, depending on current conditions and access restrictions. From there, continue along the rugged southern coastline to Brimketill, a dramatic lava-rock pool shaped by the powerful North Atlantic Ocean.
Visit Valahnúkamöl to admire its impressive sea cliffs, volcanic formations and crashing waves before experiencing the steam, bubbling mud and colourful mineral deposits of the Gunnuhver geothermal area.
The tour then continues to the Bridge Between Continents, where you can walk across a symbolic bridge between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. On the return journey, enjoy a scenic drive through the distinctive lava fields and coastal landscapes of the Reykjanes Peninsula.
This approximately 5-hour experience includes several stops for sightseeing and photography before returning to Reykjavík.
Please note that the itinerary may be adjusted due to weather, road conditions, volcanic activity or instructions from local authorities. Safety is always the priority.
